ArtCar was driven by Steve between July 2007-March 2009.
She has now retired from active duty.
Driving the ArtCar was like a kind of mobile exhibition.
Instead of visiting a gallery, the gallery content visited the outside world.
Thus every view of the ArtCar created a new picture, depending upon the location, the position of viewer and the weather.

During the Spring of 2007 Steve made a short film starring the ArtCar.

2007 - "Artistic Licence"
A twenty minute fictional twist on the album's creation!
Starring: Steve Porter, Izzy Spring, David Taylor and Ben Havers.
Directed and filmed by Rory O'Mahony.
During the summer of 2007, Steve went on tour around Europe in his ArtCar. In total he travelled 3461 miles and visited eight different countries.
People waved or looked bemused and Steve enjoyed quite a few conversations that relied on hand gestures and facial contortion in order to communicate meaning.
Steve mostly camped and cooked his dinner on a small gas stove, playing guitar from the back of his ArtCar as the sun went down. He discovered the beauty of life on the road and how the rhythms of travel and freedom can say a lot about home and how life is there.
While missing some of the comforts, he discovered how little he needed. In the end it came down to accommodation, food/drink, guitar, notebook, pens, books, mp3.
